**Palestinian Prisoners Freed in Gaza**
As part of a fragile ceasefire, 110 Palestinian prisoners were released from Israeli custody. Among them was Zakaria Zubeidi, a senior figure convicted for his role in the deaths of several Israelis.
Zubeidi was carried aloft by jubilant supporters through the streets near Ramallah’s civic centre. The release is seen as a positive step, but not everyone is happy. Israeli military operations are intensifying on the northern part of the occupied West Bank.
**Mixed Emotions in Gaza**
For Palestinian mothers, the release of their children is bittersweet. They are happy to have them back home, but also sad about the situation in the provinces. Many families have lost their homes and loved ones during the war.
One mother said: “We’re happy for our children’s release, but we’re also saddened by the mothers who lost their homes and their children.”
**Hope Remains**
Despite the challenges, Palestinians remain hopeful that peace will come one day. As Governor Ghanam said: “If we had lost our hope, Palestinians’ existence would have ended 75 years ago.”
