Russia’s plan to secretly integrate North Korean soldiers into its marine units has backfired. Ukraine’s air force has targeted the gaps in repositioned forces, causing significant disruption.
**Russian Plan Fails**
A secret Russian plan to deploy North Korean troops was exposed. Instead of forming separate units, Russia integrated these troops into existing Marine brigades. This aimed to conceal their presence and align them with Russian command structures. The formation of “special Buryat battalions” was a key part of this plan. Officially labeled as volunteers, these battalions were intended to blend in with Russian forces.
**Plan Unravels**
However, the 155th Brigade suffered catastrophic losses after being thrown into relentless frontal assaults by Russian commanders. This disrupted the integration process and left North Korean troops without functioning partner units. As a result, Russian Airborne units have been redeployed to Kursk to facilitate the integration of North Korean troops.
**Ukrainian Strikes**
The Ukrainian Air Force conducted a precise JDAM strike on a Russian deployment site southeast of Sudzha using a Su-27 fighter jet. This attack degraded Russian operational capabilities in Kursk and disrupted the integration of North Korean troops.
**Russian Manpower Shortages**
Russia’s reliance on North Korean troops highlights its severe manpower shortages. Integrating undertrained North Korean personnel into depleted Russian units is unlikely to yield significant tactical advantages, especially given high attrition rates already suffered by Russian forces in Kursk.
