Germany Takes Action Against Georgian Oppressors
The German government has taken a stand against violence in Georgia. On December 31, the Foreign Ministry announced that nine people have been banned from entering Germany.
These individuals are accused of being responsible for attacking protesters and opposition members in Georgia. The ministry said that it’s their duty to protect human rights, including the right to peaceful protest.
This is not the first time countries have taken action against those who undermine democracy and ignore human rights in Georgia. Over 100 officials and individuals have been sanctioned by other nations, including the US, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, the UK, and Ukraine.
More countries may follow Germany’s lead. The situation in Georgia remains tense.
