A medical ambulance has been dispatched to assist Ukrainian soldiers who have been injured in the war against Russia.
The vehicle was purchased by the charity Hull 4 Ukraine which was founded in 2022 by Ana McBride who is originally from Crimea.
The ambulance was filled with surplus supplies, and donated to the medical brigade at Azoz Battalion.
Ms McBride (44), who lives in Hull now, said that the charity still receives many requests for assistance from the east and the south of Ukraine where, she said, there is “a population of people relying upon aid”.
She continued: “The war caused a huge gap in the economy of Ukraine.” People have lost their homes and their jobs.”
She said that while military assistance has been provided, many refugees are still living in camps and are in desperate need for food, hygiene products and clothing.
Christmas Box Appeal
Hull 4 Ukraine has a charity store in Whitefriargate and is also raising money for two winter appeals.
Mrs McBride asked the public to donate any spare warm clothing.
The charity will also make Christmas boxes for war orphans and is appealing for small stocking stuffers that “make life a bit easier” for the children living in orphanages.
