**Polish President Wants US Nuclear Weapons in Poland**
Polish President Andrzej Duda wants the United States to put nuclear weapons in Poland. This is to protect against future Russian aggression, he said.
Duda believes that since NATO moved its borders east 26 years ago, it’s time for NATO’s military infrastructure to also shift east. He suggested that the US could move nuclear warheads from Western Europe or the US to Poland.
**Russia Has Already Done This**
Duda pointed out that Russia has already put tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, a country neighboring Poland. “They didn’t ask anyone’s permission,” he said.
He recently discussed this idea with Keith Kellogg, a special envoy for Ukraine. Duda hopes to revive an old proposal to share nuclear powers with the US.
**Concerns About War**
This comes at a time when Western leaders and intelligence agencies are warning about the possibility of a large-scale war in Europe within the next five years.
In 2023, Russia signed an agreement to transfer tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus. These are designed for use on the battlefield in Europe and Asia.
**Other Countries Also Considering Nuclear Options**
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly threatened Ukraine and the West with nuclear attacks since launching the invasion in 2022. French President Emmanuel Macron has also said that France is open to extending its nuclear umbrella to protect European allies.
