During their meeting in Kazan on October 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed Ukraine with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
The BRICS alliance is a group of countries which includes Brazil, Russia India, China, South Africa Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates. They will be meeting in Kazan from October 22-24 for a 3-day summit. Moscow reports that 36 world leaders will be attending the conference.
According to Russian state-run media, Putin and Xi spoke for an hour. The leaders discussed Russia’s war against Ukraine and the BRICS agenda as well as bilateral relations.
Xi said, “The world is undergoing deep changes that have not been seen in a century. The international situation is chaotic and intertwined.”
Xi and Putin “outlined the key parameters of future contacts to continue the dialog” during their meeting, according to Kremlin spokeswoman Dmitry Peskov.
Putin said that Russia hopes to increase its cooperation with China “on all international platforms”.
Xi, Putin and others agreed that bilateral relations are at a historic high and they protect “regional stability and tranquility” together.
Beijing and Moscow are strengthening their economic and political links despite China’s official neutrality on Russia’s full scale war in Ukraine. During a previous meeting with Putin in Kazakhstan, Xi agreed that bilateral relations had reached a new high.
The U.S. has sanctioned Chinese companies for producing drones that were used in Russia’s conflict. Various countries have accused China for providing satellite imagery, machine tools, weapons technologies, semiconductors, as well as other dual-use technology to Russia.
On October 17, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that intelligence data indicated that “China actively helps Russia drag this war out.”
Kyrylo Budanov, the military intelligence chief, said that he was waiting for the first units to arrive tomorrow in the direction of Kursk. He did not specify the number of units.
The leaders discussed Russia’s conflict with Ukraine, the BRICS agenda and bilateral relations. Putin said that Russia hopes to increase its cooperation with China “on all international platforms”.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, said that Washington also plans to provide $800 millions as a first tranche for the manufacture of Ukrainian drones.
BRICS is a grouping of emerging economies that includes Russia, China, India and Brazil.
This is Pyongyang’s first public response to multiple reports from Kyiv or Seoul about such a deployment.
The loan will go towards Ukraine’s military expenditures. Kyiv can invest in key equipment for fighting Russia, including artillery, air defence, and wider equipment support.
The Air Force reported that Ukrainian forces destroyed 46 of 60 Shahed drones launched overnight by Russia.
A government source told South Korean news agency Yonhap that, “while watching signs of North Korea and Russia military cooperation, response measures will be taken step by step.”
Russian local authorities claim that Ukrainian drones attacked four Russian plants, including three distilleries, overnight on October 22, including in the oblasts of Tula, Tambov, and Voronezh.
