Roberta Metsola (President of the European Parliament) stressed the importance of protecting nations who are not EU members but have a dangerous neighbor at the Informal EU27 Summit in Prague.
Metsola believes anything that brings nations together to discuss concerns and solutions that are common is essential.
Metsola stated that “I believe everything that brings nations together to discuss common challenges and solutions is extremely important.”
She added that it was important that the next meeting be held in Moldova.
The fact that the convention will be held in Moldova is crucial for Moldova’s geopolitical future.
The President said, “We must also protect countries who are not yet members of the European Union.” They have aligned with our sanctions, and are at the mercy of a very intimidating neighbor such as Moldova.
She stressed that she welcomes meetings like yesterday’s. Any opportunity to have a dialogue is beneficial. In particular, it is important to ensure that all nations adopt and enforce sanctions.
Metsola said that the EU does not exclude any new member states, including Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, from its welcome path.
Metsola said that the European Union had vowed to expand into the Western Balkans, and would continue doing so.
