In a night of widespread attacks, the Ukrainian air defense intercepted 22 out of 23 Russian drones. It also reported three ballistic-missile strikes on Poltava Oblast.
Overnight, Russian forces launched a number of attacks in Ukraine. They used drones and missiles to target multiple oblasts.
The Air Force of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported that Russia fired three Iskander M/KN 23 ballistic missiles in Poltava Oblast. Governor Pronin stated that the attack caused damage to an industrial facility.
Ukrainian air defense also brought down 21 of 22 Russian drones in Odesa and Vinnytsia oblasts, as well as in Kyiv.
Russian drone attack in the Odesa district injured five people, Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper said. Three of the victims were hospitalized. The attack also damaged and destroyed a nine-story medical facility and a building. A construction site that was not finished caught fire.
Kiper said that Russians had been attacking Odesa for the third night running with attack drones.
The Russian military is reported to have struck a geriatric centre in the Kherson Oblast and injured two medical staff. The regional prosecutor reported that the Russian military used artillery weapons to shell Stepanivka, in the Kherson district.
These attacks are part a pattern of regular Russian assaults on Ukrainian oblasts using various weapons systems, such as strike UAVs and missiles, guided-bombs, and multi-launch rocket systems.
These strikes are classified as war crimes in Ukraine by the Ukrainian authorities and international organizations.
According to the UN, between 24 February 2022 and August 2024 at least 11,743 civils (including 613 kids) were killed in Ukraine by Russian aggression.
UN reports that actual figures could be higher as some reports of civil casualties haven’t yet been confirmed.
