**Russia Says It Stopped 85 Ukrainian Drones**
The Russian Defense Ministry said on January 11 that it had stopped or destroyed 85 Ukrainian drones flying into Russia overnight. The ministry claimed that the drones were launched from various parts of Ukraine.
**Damage in Western Russia**
In one region where Moscow claimed to have successfully countered a Ukrainian drone attack, local authorities reported that a drone crashed into two five-floor apartment buildings in the town of Kotovsk in western Russia. Although the damage was minimal, three people were lightly injured by broken glass.
**Difficulty in Verifying Claims**
The Kyiv Independent could not independently verify all of Moscow’s claims about the number and location of the destroyed drones. Ukraine rarely reveals information about its attacks on Russian territory, making it hard to assess the scale of the attacks.
**Ukraine Targets Russian Logistics**
Using homemade drones, Ukraine has targeted military sites, airfields, and oil refineries deep in Russia to disrupt logistics and hit back at a stronger enemy. The Ukrainian side keeps quiet about its attacks, which makes it difficult for others to know how big these attacks are.
