**Russia Criticizes US Sanctions**
Russia is upset with the latest US sanctions against its energy sector. The country’s Foreign Ministry said these sanctions are an attempt to harm Russia’s economy and risk global market stability.
Despite this, Russia says it will keep working on major oil and gas projects. The ministry called the US actions “hostile” and accused Washington of trying to damage Russia’s economy, even if it means causing problems in world markets.
The new US sanctions target Russia’s main oil companies, Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegas. They also affect 183 vessels that transport Russian oil. These ships are often called the “shadow fleet”. The US Treasury says these companies produce over 1 million barrels of oil per day, earning around $23 billion annually.
**Reaction from Ukraine**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the US sanctions. He said they would hurt Russia’s economy and help bring peace to the region sooner.
