On Nov. 11, Governor Vadym Fillashkin reported that Russian forces damaged the dam containing the Kurakhove Reservoir, located in Donetsk Oblast.
Filashkin’s announcement came after numerous reports of the dam being attacked in the vicinity of Stari Terny village, about 25 kilometers (15 miles), from the embattled city of Kurakhove.
The Kurakhove Reservoir, located on the Vovcha River near the village Progress, is its source.
Filashkin said that “this attack could threaten residents of settlements along the Vovcha River in both Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts.”
The New York Times reported the day before that Moscow was preparing an offensive in Kursk Oblast, with a force of up to 50,000 soldiers. This includes both Russians and North Koreans.
Vadym Fillashkin, the governor of Donetsk Oblast, said that “this attack could threaten residents of settlements along the Vovcha River in both Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk.”
In Kyiv, as well as other cities in Ukraine, sirens were sounded. People rushed to shelters and emergency blackouts began.
Jean-Noel Barrot said Kyiv’s Western allies must do everything possible to ensure Ukraine enters any future peace negotiations with the strongest position.
