**Indirect Presidential Elections Held in Georgia**
For the first time, indirect presidential elections are being held in Georgia. This event is considered an important step towards strengthening parliamentary democracy.
The current situation in the Georgian parliament is as follows: The ruling party “Georgian Dream” has 211 members, including representatives from Adjara and the Parliamentary Assembly. The opposition has 69 seats. In addition to these, there are 20 members from Abkhazia’s Supreme Council. Voting will take place from 9am to 2pm today.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) is conducting the elections. At 2pm today, the CEC will count the votes and announce the results.

Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Georgian parliament, spoke with journalists about this historic moment in Georgia’s history. He expressed his hope that indirect presidential elections would be an important step towards strengthening parliamentary democracy.
Papuashvili also made a call to outgoing President Salome Zurabishvili not to engage in any sabotage after her term expires on December 29th.
