**Trump Suggests Ukraine May Receive Less Aid**
U.S. President–elect Donald Trump said in an interview that Ukraine may get less aid from the United States under his presidency. When asked if Ukraine should prepare for reduced U.S. assistance, Trump replied “possibly, sure.”
**Meeting with Ukrainian Leader**
Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris on December 7. They discussed ending the war in Ukraine and building on Trump’s previous claim that he could resolve the conflict within 24 hours.
**Ukraine War Update**
The U.S. is concerned about Russian involvement in Syria. Syrian rebels are advancing towards Damascus, which may lead to President Bashar al–Assad losing power. This would weaken Russia’s regional foothold in the Middle East.
**Aid Package for Ukraine**
The U.S. plans to use the remaining $2 billion from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) to supply arms to Ukraine through contracts with U.S. defense companies.
**Trump on NATO and Ukraine**
Trump said that the U.S. would continue its membership in NATO if it is treated “fairly” in terms of contributions. He also expressed his desire to end hostilities in Ukraine, repeating his earlier claim that he could resolve the conflict within 24 hours.
