The General Staff of Ukraine confirmed on October 10 that Ukrainian forces had successfully carried out a strike against the Khanskaya airfield, a Russian military base in the Adygea Republic.
The confirmation comes just a few days after Adygea Republic officials reported an early morning drone attack on the region on October 10. The Russian Telegram channel Astra reported explosions near the airport the same morning.
“During the attack, there were 57 warplanes and helicopters at the airfield.” The Kyiv Independent reported that the aircraft included Su-34, Su-35 jets, and Mi-8 helicopters.
According to the SBU and General Staff, the operation was carried out by the SBU in collaboration with the Ukrainian military intelligence agency (HUR) and Special Operations Forces.
Source: Also on October 10, drones operated SBU, HUR and the Special Operations Forces struck a Shahed storage facility near the Russian town of Yeysk. This resulted in explosions and an intense fire.
The extent of the damage to the aircraft in Adygea will be determined. According to the General Staff the strike damaged a ammunition warehouse resulting in an fire. This is visible in the footage shared on social networks.
The airfield is located in the village of Khanskaya. It is close to the capital city of the region, Maykop, and approximately 430 kilometers (270miles) from the frontline. The Khanskaya Airfield is home to Russia’s 272nd Training Aviation Regiment.
Defense Express cited satellite imagery to lower its estimate of the number aircraft stationed at the airfield. Satellite footage from October 6 shows 12 aircraft, of an unknown type, stationed at the airbase. This is about the size of a tactical aviation squadron.
Currently, it is unclear whether the SBU source’s estimate was an overestimate or whether Russia has moved additional aircraft to this airbase in the last few days.
According to a source, Russia uses this airbase to refuel and to support airstrikes on Ukrainian military positions and civilian centers.
Ukraine has conducted a number strikes against airbases, military facilities and other military installations in an attempt to weaken the Russian Air Force’s more powerful capabilities and limit Moscow’s ability launch devastating aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities.
Volunteers could only serve as privates and sergeants until now.

Zelensky will meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during his visit. The visit is part of an broader European tour that began on October 9 with a trip to Croatia.
Local authorities in Russia’s Adygea Republic (an enclave within Krasnodar Krai) reported a drone strike “against (the capital of) Maykop by Ukrainian drones.”
According to opposition legislator Yaroslav Zelezniak the version of bill adopted in second reading saw many changes.
The agreement included cooperation between defense industry and Croatian assistance for demining as well as a condemnation of Russia’s war, calling the conflict “unprovoked” and “unjustified”.
Regional authorities reported on October 10 that Russian attacks in Ukraine have killed or injured at least eight people over the past 24 hours.
In a report seen by The Guardian, German and British think-tanks urged decision makers to create a “NATO Bank” to “Trump proof” the alliance’s spending on military equipment.

This includes 1,080 casualties that Russian forces have suffered in the last day.
Karine Jean Pierre, White House Press Secretary, said: “Let’s remember, it’s concerning, especially since we know that the former president was lobbying for more aid to Ukraine — to Ukraine so they can defend themselves against Russia’s aggression.”
Drones attacked Khanskaya Military Airfield in Russia’s Republic of Adygea early on 10 October, causing an explosion at the site. Local authorities have not made any comments on the attack.
Senior U.S. officials stated that the reliable flow of supplies to the region, and Russia’s focus in eastern Ukraine, will allow Kyiv hold territory in Kursk Oblast well into the future.
Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stltenberg stated that “if we had delivered even a fraction of what we have delivered since 2022, we might have prevented the war.”
“Russian losses – both killed and injured in action – in the first year of war exceeded all Soviet losses since World War II,” a senior Pentagon officials said.
Telegram reported that at least six people died and 11 were injured in a Russian rocket strike on the southern Odesa Oblast of Ukraine on Oct. 9. Regional governor Oleh Kiper confirmed this.
The European Union has approved a plan that is unprecedented in the world. It involves issuing a 35 billion euro ($37.2 billion), loan to help Ukraine’s war-torned economy. This loan will be secured by assets of Russia’s Central Bank, which are currently immobilized.
The Ukrainian General Staff stated that the destruction of the Shahed drones base would significantly reduce the ability for the Russian occupiers terrorize civilians living in Ukrainian cities and villages.
“I will meet separately with the leaders of Britain and France in each country. “I will be quick and then present the victory plan to our partners at Ramstein,” said President Volodymyr Zelensky.
