**Ukrainians Can Now Bring Children to Join Them in the UK**
The British government has changed its rules for people fleeing Ukraine. From last February, only some Ukrainians could sponsor family members to join them in the UK. This meant that parents who were living in the UK without a permanent home couldn’t bring their children with them.
**Charities Welcome Change**
Charities have welcomed this change as a big relief for families separated by war. They say it will help parents who want to reunite with their children in safety. However, they also warn that this change won’t help other family members like siblings or grandparents.
**190,000 People Have Fled Ukraine**
Since the war started in March 2022, more than 190,000 people have come to the UK under a scheme called Homes for Ukraine. This allows people to host those fleeing the conflict. But last February’s changes made it difficult for many families to be together again.
**Government Reverses Decision**
The government has now said that parents or guardians who are living in the UK can apply to sponsor their children under this scheme. This means that Ukrainians with temporary visas can now bring their children to join them in the UK.
**Charities Say More Needs to Be Done**
A charity called Work Rights Centre says this change is a relief for some families, but it doesn’t help others who have been separated from siblings, grandparents, or other relatives. They say many people in the UK are worried about family members left behind in Ukraine.
