**US Demands Russia‘s Removal from Serbian Oil Industry**
The US Treasury wants all Russian interests removed from the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS). This was announced by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Friday.
Vucic said he will talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as American and Chinese officials. “Serbia is not against Russia,” he said. “We don’t want to take something that belongs to someone else.”
The US Treasury wants Gazpromneft, a Russian state-owned company, completely removed from NIS. This means the government would have to sell all of its shares in the company.
Vucic said this would be the largest change in ownership since the company was founded. He claimed it would require approval from both the US administration and OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control).
