**Ukraine President Condemns Alleged Russian Attack on Nursing Home**
President Volodymyr Zelensky has strongly condemned Russia’s alleged bombing of a nursing home in Kursk Oblast. The attack, which occurred on February 1, killed at least four people and critically wounded four others.
The Ukrainian military reported that the attack was carried out by a Russian airstrike on a residential facility in the occupied town of Sudzha in Kursk Oblast. The building primarily housed elderly residents, and over 80 people were evacuated from the site after the attack.
Zelensky compared the attack to Russia’s brutal military campaigns in Chechnya, Syria, and Ukraine, saying that it was a “state devoid of civility” and an evil that would not stop on its own. He also accused Russia of using similar tactics against their own civilians.
The targeted building had been previously attacked by Russian forces on January 11, according to the Ukrainian military. However, the Russian Defense Ministry later accused Ukraine of carrying out the bombing, a claim that has not been verified.
**Russia’s Brutal Military Campaigns**
Zelensky’s remarks refer to Russia’s brutal military campaigns in Chechnya and Syria. In the 1990s and early 2000s, Russia waged war against Chechnya, killing thousands of civilians and destroying entire cities. Russia also supported former Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, who imprisoned, tortured, and killed hundreds of thousands of Syrians during his crackdown on opposition forces.
