Georgian Leader Speaks Out Against PACE Ultimatum

The Secretary-General of the , Kakha , has responded to a proposal from the PACE Monitoring Committee. The committee offered two options for dealing with Georgia’ parliamentary .

Kaladze said that his party does not accept being told what to do. “We don’t want blackmail or ultimatums,” he said. “We just want friendship and partnership.”

He also criticized Western for making unfair statements about Georgia in recent months. Kaladze said these statements were based on lies and were therefore unacceptable.

The PACE Monitoring Committee proposed two options for dealing with the delegation. The first option would allow the delegation’s to be ratified, but only if certain conditions are met by April 2025. These conditions include holding genuinely democratic elections, restoring EU efforts, and ending police brutality.

If Georgia meets these requirements, its delegates will be allowed to participate in PACE activities without restriction. However, if they fail to meet the conditions, their mandates could be suspended or even revoked.

The second option is similar, but it would not allow the Georgian delegation’s mandates to be ratified at all. This means that Georgia would have no representation in PACE until its officials meet the required conditions.
